John E. Gottlieb, MDJohn E. Gottlieb, MD

Dr. Gottlieb founded Vail • Summit Orthopaedics in 1979 when he and his wife, Lynn, made the Vail Valley home with their three children. Their daughter just finished nursing school after graduating from CU. Their oldest son is a freelance journalist in Boston and their youngest son is attending medical school in Virginia.

Dr. Gottlieb is one of the most active and innovative knee surgeons in the country, recently contributing to a national study. He performs more ACL reconstructions than most orthopedic surgeons in the world.

He was a history major in undergraduate school and continues to avidly pursue that interest. Golf keeps him busy in the non-snow months where he is making an effort to lower his lowest handicap of 8 and his lowest score of 73. He also frequently is hiking and trekking in the back woods with his two golden retrievers.
